Obituary of John Herman Ahlers

Ahlers, Johannes Hermanus "John"

Peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, January 4, 2026, John Ahlers, has joined his wife Anne in heaven.  Loving father of John Michael (late Lynn) and the late Cathy Ahlers Madden (Patrick).  Proud  Opa of Ryan Ahlers, Amanda, Patricia, and Andrew Madden and great-Opa of Bennett Madden.  John was the oldest son of the late Bernard and Jantina (Beukeveld) Ahlers.  Survived by his sister Annie Smit, sister-in-law Margaret Ahlers, brother Gerry (Anouk) Melenhorst (Trees) and several nieces and nephews in Canada and The Netherlands. 

Predeceased by his parents, his loving wife Anne (Melenhorst) (July 23, 2011), his daughter Cathy Anne (June 9, 2023), John Michael's wife Lynn (Johnston), sisters Helen (Herman) Kamphuis and Tiny Ahlers, his brothers Bernard (Grady), Otto, brother-in-law Kees Smit and several relatives in The Netherlands.  John was a member of the Secular Franciscan Order and the Knights of Columbus.  

Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Sunday afternoon, January 11 from 2-4 o'clock and then at St. George Church, 1164 Commissioners Road West, on Monday morning, January 12 from 10 o'clock until the time of the Mass of Resurrection at 11 o'clock.  Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery.  If so desired, donations may be made to London Area Right to Life or St. Vincent de Paul.
