It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Betty (nee Richards) Young, in her 80th year, on Friday, December 26, 2025. After a short, intense battle, Betty passed peacefully surrounded by all her loved ones. Loving wife of the late Al Young, they are now reunited where the sky meets the water. Cherished mother of Deanna Young (Bill Blumson), Albert Young (Darlene) and Maryellen Young (Pete Jones). Devoted Nanny of Alyssa (Jhett), AJ, Madison (Eric), Isabella, and Michael. Betty is the eldest of seven. She is survived by her siblings Barbara (Leo), Helen (Wally dec.), Joan (Mike), Jim (Yvonne), Fred (Sharon), and Cathy (Bob dec.) Betty is also remembered by Al's family Ted Young (Mary dec.), Rosemary Caruana and Patricia Crockett (Wayne). Betty was Nanny to many children throughout her life and will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She also had a special bond with her great nephew Oliver. Betty will also be deeply missed by her close friends Tommy and Irene Barkley. Betty’s quiet strength, deep faith and endless love, even in death, inspired all those around her. Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Friday, January 2 from 2-4 and 7-9 o'clock. Prayers will be held Friday afternoon at 2 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Justin’s Catholic Church, 855 Jalna Blvd., on Saturday morning, January 3 at 10 o'clock. Interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery. Luncheon to follow. Donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
