Obituary of Maria DeSando

DeSando, (nee D'Ippolito), Maria, Cristina, Liberata 

It is with great sadness we share the passing of our beloved mother, Maria after a difficult bout with pneumonia at L.H.S.C. Victoria Campus on Saturday, December 20, 2025, in her 86th year.   

Predeceased by her mother Saveria, nee Constantino, D’Ippolito and her beloved father, Pietro Antionio Achelle D’Ippolito. 

The beloved and devoted wife of the late  Francesco (Franco) DeSando, (2001). Beloved mother of Peter DeSando and Tommasina (Sue) MacDonald and her husband Mike. Dearest Nonna to Jessica, Maria and Michael MacDonald, Thomas, Jacob, and Heather.  Dear Loving Great Grandmother to her Shining Star, Andre. 

Dear sister of (predeceased) Arturo, Bernardo D'Ippolito, formerly of London. Elisabetta Pondini and her late husband Franco and Oreste D'Ippolito and his wife Nina of Switzerland.  

Dear sister-in-law of Elizabeth  Mazzotta (d) and her late husband Nicola of London, Antonio (d) and his wife Angelina (d) in Italy, Peter (d) and his wife Maria of London. The late Giuseppe DeSando and his late wife Cecilia  in Italy. 

Many nieces and nephews share in our grief. Honorable mentions are to our cousins, Mary and Jason Peers, Tony and Kim DeSando, Susie and Jeff Lepore, Elisa and Peter Jones, Nick Zalitach, Elizabeth and Dave Hetesi, all of London. Laura and Nicola Fiorentino in Switzerland. 

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church, 345 Lyle Street, on Tuesday morning, December 23 at 10 o'clock. Entombment in Holy Family Mausoleum, St. Peter's Cemetery.  Donations to the charity of choice would be appreciated.
