Obituary of Joan Dalton

Dalton, Irene Joan

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Irene Joan Dalton, on the morning of October 7th, 2025. Joan is survived by her three children; Kevin Dalton, Cathie Dalton, and Coleen Dalton, seven grandchildren; Bruce Cooper (Carolyn) Eric Cooper (Courtney) and Greg Cooper (Sara), Sean Dobbin (Mackenzie), Emily Pye (Paige), Abbey Dalton-Hayter, Liam Kolkman-Dalton, and nine great grandchildren.

Born in London, Ontario on April 3rd, 1935, Joan lived a full life with her husband Kevin Peter Dalton, who passed on October 1st, 1997. Joan was an exceptional pianist who loved to entertain family and friends, playing everything from Boogie Woogie to classical pieces by Mozart and Strauss on her upright grand piano.

Joan was a very kind and generous soul, often volunteering her time to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Catholic Women’s League, The Carling Heights Optimist and friends and neighbors.

Joan enjoyed a playing boards games, cards, golf, bowling and was at times quite a practical joker. She opened her house to a Japanese exchange student, an Olympic Gold medalist, and other young relatives and friends in their time of need. Joan worked in a variety of positions in the private and public sector, where she typed at record speeds, even while conversing with others about various topics. Raising three children, while her husband worked different shifts, she was a true multi-tasker. The family enjoyed many good times in the summer at the cottage at Sauble Beach, at Port Burwell where her elder sister Mary resided, and on camping excursions.

Joan was a humble woman who often said, “I never dreamed of money or a fancy house, I just wanted to have a family”. In this respect she felt fulfilled and blessed with all her surviving family.

God bless and may your soul rest in peace.
