Obituary of Thomas Edward Kearns
It is with profound sadness that the family of Thomas Kearns announces his passing on Tuesday, 16 September 2025, at the age of 90. He left this world peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, after a life lived with immense joy, unwavering strength, and a heart full of warmth for everyone he met.
Tom is survived by Marg, his wife, Colleen, Shawn and Dawn, Kerry and Linda, his children and their spouses, Garrett, Connor and Geneva, his grandchildren, and Mary, his sister. He was preceded in death by his sister Gertrude.
Thomas was pleasant, kind and respectful to everyone he met. His years of volunteering for Bell Pioneers, Habitat for Humanity, the St Joseph’s Hospitality Centre, and working with children at Knollwood Public School for 25 years are evidence of his quiet, selfless manner and compassion for others. His involvement with the Nortel pension class action lawsuit on behalf of fellow pensioners benefitted many.
Thomas struggled bravely and with good humour, never losing his appetite for good food over these past few years. While at home, compassionate care was provided by a variety of personal support workers, nurses and doctors whom we would like to thank. We additionally appreciate the support of his hospice volunteer. While at Universiy Hospital, he was treated with great dignity and respect by the palliative care team. We thank them for their care.
A private celebration with the family will be held on Saturday, 20 September 2025. Family and friends are welcome to attend the visitation following the private celebration from 1:30pm to 3:00pm at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo St, London, Ontario.
