Obituary of Linda Gasparini

In memory of Linda Alma Gasparini

April 1, 1944- Sept 4, 2025.

Linda was born on April Fool's Day 1944, and we often noted that appropriately she did not "suffer fools gladly". She was no nonsense, matter of fact, and often described as feisty.

Linda grew up in Fort Frances, Ontario, surrounded by her 2 brothers,  3 sisters and a lot of cousins, uncles and aunts. Linda was the fourth child. Her father Vincenzo  and her mother Eliza were born in Northern Italy. They both immigrated to Canada after WW I, met in " The Fort", and lived a busy life raising their children.

After high-school Linda trained at  Saint Joseph's Hospital in Thunder Bay and graduated as a registered  nurse in 1966.

After a few adventurous years in Vancouver, Linda moved to Toronto and, among other things, worked in the recovery room at Toronto Western Hospital.  She made many friends over the years and had lots of tales about living in downtown Toronto.

Linda loved her High Park neighbourhood, residing there for over 40 years. She enjoyed long walks and the bustle of Bloor West Village.

Linda loved to knit and sing and cook and smoke her cigarettes with a good cup of coffee. She was a whiz at crosswords and scrabble and solitaire. She enjoyed going to movies and watching the news. She had a good sense of humour and her cackling laugh was infectious.

After some falls and ill health, Linda was relocated to Mount Hope Long Term Care.  She appreciated the TLC given by long-term care staff at St Mary's 3rd floor and she had a lot of giggles with her companions Alice, Sunita and Dedeh.

We thank them very much.

Linda will be missed by her family especially her neice Paula, nephew in law Robert, brother- in-law Paul, brother John (Gino) and her best friend, sister Stephanie. She had many cherished nieces and nephews and enjoyed hearing about their expanding families.

She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Lino, sisters Louise and Marina, sisters-in-law Faye and Kathleen.

According to Linda's wishes she has been cremated, and no services will occur at this time. Please think of Linda when you have your next coffee.
