Obituary of Renato Maniago

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Renato Maniago, who left us peacefully on September 1st, 2025, at the age of 95.

Born in Arzene, Italy, on June 16, 1930, Renato immigrated to Canada at the age of 20. After arriving by boat in Halifax, he moved to London, Ontario, where he built a beautiful life surrounded by family and friends who cherished his humor, kindness, and unwavering love.

Renato was predeceased by his beloved wife Regina, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and devotion. He will be dearly missed by his children, Robert (Linda) and Vivian (the late Wesley), and by his son-in-law, John Mott, husband of the late Judy. His sisters-in-law, Vittoria Fotia (the late Dominic), and Maria Vigna (the late Carmelo), as well as his brother-in-law, Carlo Serraglio (Enza and the late Luisa), will remember Renato fondly. A proud and devoted Nonno, Renato brought joy and laughter to his grandchildren Jessica (Kevin), Kristyn, Jeff, Carly, Michael (predeceased), and Matthew (predeceased). He was also blessed to be a bisnonno to Ava, who brought him so much pride and happiness.

Renato’s zest for life was unmatched. He proudly worked at Bernardo’s for many years as a tilesetter and then as a foreman. He loved hunting, gardening, wine making, travelling, soccer and hockey amongst many other things. Above all, Renato loved his family fiercely. He was known for his quick wit and endless jokes that kept everyone around him smiling.  A visitation and funeral service to celebrate Renato’s life will be held on Monday, September 29th, at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, starting at 11am with the service at 12 noon.  Renato’s legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. A special thank you to Sonia Lopez, Sheiby Cisco and all the staff who cared for Renato at the LHSC.
