Obituary of Jure Crnic
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jure (George) Crnic, a devoted husband, loving father, caring grandfather, and cherished friend. Jure passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025, at LHSC Victoria Hospital, with his family by his side. He was 77 years old.
Jure was born on March 26, 1948, in Pravutina, Croatia. He was the beloved husband of Dubravka for 53 years, proud father of Bryan (Shelley) and Natalie (Darryl), and loving grandfather of Mateo, Luka, Julia, Molly, Emma, and Harvey. He was predeceased by his parents, Mato and Milka Crnic, and is survived by his sisters, Ljubica Pozeg and Mirjana Knezevic. Jure will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
In 1970, Jure moved to Canada, where he worked hard to build a good life for his family. He had a long and prosperous career with the Ford Motor Company, dedicating over 32 years of service. Jure achieved more than he could have imagined and was proud of all his accomplishments.
Jure had a passion for hunting, fishing, gardening, maple syrup production, wine making, cured meat production, and craftsmanship. He was an active member of the Croatian community and the Croatian Soccer Club (Zagreb Club). Anyone who knew Jure knew he was always keeping busy with his many hobbies.
Jure touched the lives of many and will be remembered for his strong work ethic, kindness, and generous spirit.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 5th, from 2:00–4:00 PM and 7:00–9:00 PM at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 6th, at 10:00 AM at St. Leopold Mandic Croatian Catholic Church, 2889 Westminster Drive. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Leopold Mandic Croatian Catholic Church or the Croatian Soccer Club (Zagreb Club) in Jure's memory.
