Surrounded by her family at LHSC University Hospital on Monday, June 30, 2025, Joyce Haakman (nee Buren) passed away at the age of 97 years.  Loving mother of Paul and his wife Shari Haakman of Edmonton.  Proud oma of Trista (Dan) Barrett and Perry Haakman  (Megan Styba) and great oma of Lola Barrett.  Dear sister of Dora (Lambert) Smeets and Trudy (late Louie) Lenssen and sister-in-law of Pat Buren, Irene Buren and Marlies Buren.  Predeceased by her siblings Lawrence Buren, Cays Buren, Rita (Frank) Freeman, Peter Buren, Ida (John) Schreurs, and Margaret (Ed) Verhoeven.  Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Wednesday, July 2 from 2-4 and 7-9 o’clock.  Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Divine Church, 390 Baseline Road West, on Thursday morning, July 3 at 11 am.  Reception will follow immediately after the Mass.  Interment in St. Peter’s Cemetery will be at 2 o’clock.  Donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.
