My sincere condolences to you, Shirley and family, on the passing of Paul.
Paul leaves me with many fond memories, starting as my flying instructor and then boss, at Skyline Airways in Kitchener and then further into our careers at Air Ontario/ Jazz. He will be missed.

Paul was a good friend, a good pilot, and a good person all around. Fly west my friend. It's the final flight we all must take.

Sunset for Paul
The sun was a glowing ember
as it settled near the ground.
the dreary day was cold and dark.
no songbirds could be found.
at dusk the winds grew quiet
and all but disappeared.
the clouds drew back for us to see
heaven’s beauty bright and clear,
and there in radiant splendor
a shooting star grew near
a tribute to our good friend Paul,
our friend we all held dear.
And so we must remember Paul
as father, husband, pilot, friend,
and dare not view the life we live
as though ‘twill never end.
for often though the day be dark
next morning brings the sun,
a bright new day of cozy warmth,
promising, promising joys to come.
Though Paul no longer walks with us
he’s earned his wings no doubt;
embarked upon that final flight
to see what heaven’s all about;
climbed aboard those silvered wings
in the ether we know best,
and taken that final check ride
to the sunset in the west
Fly west my friend it’s the final flight we all must take.

Shirley and family, I am so sorry to hear of Paul’s passing. Paul and I knew each other from our village of Chepstow. We went to school together. We played hockey together. He was a lot of fun. He was a member of our Chepstow breakfast club. We always looked forward to his coming up from Thorndale. He always had lots of stories for us and left us with smiles aplenty. He will be missed by all of us. Rest in Peace, Paul.

Paul and Joe were great friends. Joe was in their wedding and Paul was in ours. We visited them in Switzerland and Paul and Shirley were the best hosts. We had so much fun with both of them. Paul also visited Joe’s hunting gang every year in Chepstow at our family farm.
Their long time friendship, brought Shirley and I together as well.
My heart goes out to Shirley and their daughters and families.
I’m sure they are together again.

Dianna and I have a lot of great memories of Paul. We spent many hours visiting Paul and Shirley when they lived in Kitchener. We also visited them with Dorothy in Switzerland when they lived there for 3 years. When they moved to Thorndale they were even closer in distance so we got to see them more frequently. Shirley is a great cook and always invited us for dinner and Paul made us feel welcome. We had lots of fun playing Euchre of course the girls against the guys. Paul and I agreed the guys were the champions. Dianna and I also had the great fortune of travelling to Ireland this past fall and had a wonderful experience. Paul and I tried all the beers we could until we settled on a favourite which we even found when we got home. Paul was fun, interesting and always had lots of stories to tell. We will miss Paul very much and our deepest condolences go to Shirley, their daughters and their families. Memories of Paul will always be with us. Andrew and Dianna Cleland
