Obituary of Theodore Henry Manders

Manders, Theodorus “Ted”

Theodorus (Ted) Henricus Johannes Manders, peacefully at home in Port Stanley on October 15, 2021 with his family by his side. Predeceased by his loving wife of 48-years, Lori (Lauranna Doyle). Beloved father of daughters Janice (Tommy) Powell of Poquoson, Virginia and Rosanne Manders (Rick Strickland) of Port Stanley.  Cherished grandfather (Papa) to Clayton (Jasmyne Lilley) Galbraith of St. Thomas, Candace Galbraith (Tyler Robinson) of Port Stanley, and Wesley and Taylor Powell of Poquoson, Virginia. Loving great-grandfather (Precious Papa) to Avery, Theo and Belle Galbraith of St. Thomas. Born May 29, 1936 in Maasbree, Holland to the late Mary and Antoon Manders, he is survived by sisters Theresa (Bill) Quann, Mary (Carl) Brus, brothers Harry (Emmy) Manders and Peter (Margaret) Manders; and dozens of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Gary (Til) Manders, John (Ricky) Manders, Joe (Bonnie) Manders, and sister Nellie (Malcolm) Lees.  Formerly of Lucan and London; retired pressman at the London Free Press and long-time resident of Port Stanley. The family was masterfully guided through the Self-Directed Care (SDC) Program for Family-Managed Home Care by Lisa Cann and the South West LHIN.  Ted was able to remain in the loving comfort of his Port Stanley home for over two years with the assistance of LHIN’s family-managed, personalized care program and Ted’s dedicated team of empathetic caregivers and nurses led by granddaughter Nurse Candace Dawn. Heartfelt gratitude and love to everyone at LHIN and the VON, especially Nurse Tammy, Caregiver Jenn and VON Nurse Jennifer. Old friends and neighbors in his beloved village of Port Stanley provided over 40 years of happiness and joy to Ted.  The family is grateful for the thoughtful visits, prayers and support from the community who assisted in fulfilling Ted’s goal; to journey through a life well-lived and well-loved in the comfort of home. It truly takes a village. Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Prayers at 8:00 pm.
