Dear Susan. Threasa. Sheila, & all the family & friends of your dear father Hugh . we send our sincere sympathy in such a great loss. The picture is truly the way we can remember his face, almost all the time - that great smile. We enjoyed some fun times with Claire & Hugh, Christmas times, & so many family gathering times. They always made us feel so welcome. I think it is safe to say that Hugh was one of the best husbands, father, grandfather brother-in-law & friend that we all could have had. We are so very sorry that we cannot attend the funeral due to the circumstances in our household, but our thoughts & prayers are with you all - his sister & brothers & families as well.. May God be with you all & many Hugh R.I.P.

My deepest condolences to the loss of Hugh. I have fond memories of living next door as a friend to Sue in early high school. Mr Short always had a big smile and a big heart whenever I was over (which was a lot!). His love (and patience!) with living with four women was incredible. Rest in peace, Mr Short and my prayers are with you all.

I did not know Hugh well only having met him on a few occasions. He seemed like the sweetest man with the kindest heart. The second that Percy met him and climbed into his lap, that feeling was confirmed. You can always trust a dog to know a good person. I am so sorry for your loss.
