I am devestated by the loss of my good friend , like a brother to me for over 40 years . He is like no other . A heart of gold , an amazing father , spouse , son in law , grandfather and uncle . His business acumen is legendary . An amazing employer and loved by his employees at metropolitan maintenance . We enjoyed many memories together with michael and joanne , mark and Emily and they will be treasured forever. He battled long and hard these months . He didn’t want to leave his family that he lived so much . He was a proud italian and his cooking was legendary . I enjoyed our Saturday coffees and talks . We started our respective businesses at 111 Waterloo some 40 years ago..His memory will be in our family’s heart forever . I will miss him greatly . Rest in peace my friend . With a heavy heart, I write this memorial for my dear neighbour and friend, Mike Malerba. Mike was not just a neighbour but a beacon of kindness and respect in our community. His presence brought warmth and vitality to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Mike was a man full of life. His love for vegetable gardening was evident in the bountiful produce he tended to with such care. His beautiful pond added a serene touch to his yard, reflecting the peaceful and nurturing spirit he embodied. These were not just hobbies for Mike but a reflection of his deep appreciation for nature’s beauty and tranquillity. Although I had the privilege of being his neighbour for only a few years, his impact on my life was profound. Mike earned my utmost respect, not just as a neighbour but as a true friend. Our lunches were filled with delightful stories about his journey from Italy to Canada. He spoke of how he worked tirelessly to build a life for himself and his family, a story of perseverance and dedication that always inspired me. His family was the cornerstone of Mike's life. He held them in the highest regard and spoke of them with immense pride. His love for his grandchildren was particularly heartwarming. One of his greatest joys was his prized Mercedes, which he was so proud to pass on to his grandson—a gesture that symbolized his enduring love and the legacy he cherished. Mike’s departure leaves a void that will be deeply felt by myself and my family. We will miss his stories, his laughter, and the simple yet profound joy of his company. His memory will forever be a part of our lives, and his legacy of kindness and respect will continue to inspire us. Rest in peace, Mike. Your spirit will always be a cherished part of our community.
