Obituary of Theresa Stella Matejko

Matejko, Theresa (nee Kobus) Theresa (Kobus) Matejko, 90, formerly of Chicago, Illinois died at LHSC University Hospital on Friday, February 2, 2018. Theresa was married to Raymond Matejko who preceded her in death. Surviving are her children, Daniel (Anne), John (Susan), Anne (Bill) Abbott and Michael (Melanie). Predeceased by her son Robert and daughter Carolyn. Theresa had eleven grandchildren, Donald, Matthew, Brian, Amanda, Jason, Eric, Breanne, Lauren, Brittany, Jacqueline, Christine and 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Theresa was musically involved in her church, first at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in South Chicago, then St. Albert the Great in Burbank, Illinois, and before her retirement Five Holy Martyrs Church (do you want location mentioned here?) as a music director, she had the honor of playing church services for Bishop Abramowicz as well as Pope John Paul II, during his visit. She was a person who found joy in helping others; and who made a career of caring for her family. Theresa moved to Canada in 2014 to live near her daughter Anne, allowing Anne to reciprocate the loving care her mother had shown. (may want to add more here). Theresa was a person who had a strong belief in God, who followed the Lord and lived her faith. She was a hard working, selfless and humble person who toiled ceaselessly to build her treasures in heaven rather than on earth. She will be remembered not for who she was, but for the countless lives she touched so greatly. Visitation will be held at St. John the Divine Church, 390 Baseline Road West, on Saturday, February 10th from 10 o’clock until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 o’clock. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Justice, Illinois at a late date. (John T. Donohue Funeral Home)
