Obituary of John Lloyd Pease

PEASE, John 'Lloyd' – Peacefully at Mount Hope Long Term Care on Thursday, February 1, 2018, John 'Lloyd' Pease in his 92nd year. Born in Bayfield, Ontario on November 16, 1926, to John and Myrtle Pease. Lloyd is predeceased by his wife Bev (2001), sister Vera Barran (1998), brother Irvin (2000), granddaughter Sarah (1991) and great-grandson Parker (2007). Lloyd married Beverly on September 11, 1954 and had 5 children: Ted (Pam), Jeff (Erin), Sue (Rob), Joel, and Monica (John). Lloyd is survived by 8 grandchildren: Angela (Andrew) Michael (Andress), Amanda (Jason), Christian (Kim), Rebekah (Alvaro), Robbie (Gillian), Jessica and Erica, and 14 great-grandchildren. Lloyd started his jewellery career at the age of 17 with T.H. Baker Mfg. in London, Ontario. His skills as a goldsmith and expert stone setter were well renowned. In the 1950s Lloyd partnered with W.G. Sandford to form Sandford & Pease, 414 Talbot Street, jewellers and engravers to the retail trade. From 1970 until 1987, Lloyd operated Lloyd's Jewellers, 239 Dundas Street in downtown London and finished his career in 2000 at Sumner Jewellers at the age of 74. Lloyd was an accomplished musician playing saxophone, clarinet and bass fiddle with several local dance bands, performing throughout London and area during the '50s and '60s. Lloyd was an avid golfer, curler and bridge player. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and many friends. An active member with the St. George's Mens club, Byron Optimist and Knights of Columbus, Lloyd spent many years volunteering with the Regional Cancer Centre and Meals on Wheels. Visitors will be received at JOHN T. DONOHUE FUNERAL HOME , 362 Waterloo Street on Monday, February 5th from 12pm to 2pm with service immediately following. Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to: St. Joseph's Health Care Foundation directed to the Well Wishes for Seniors Program at Mount Hope in memory of Lloyd. The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation for the compassionate care Lloyd received from the staff of 5th Floor Marian Villa.
