Obituary of Michele Mescia

MESCIA, Michele -

Passed away peacefully at L.H.S.C. University Hospital, London, on Friday, September 15, 2017, Michele Mescia in his 88th year. Loving husband of Antonietta Mescia (nee Cifaldi). Dear father of Rocco (Kelly) and Domenic (Linda). Cherished grandfather of the late Matthew, Michael (Lindsey), Derek, Kiana and great-grandfather of Myla. Michele is survived by his sister Leonarda Fatibene (Antonio). He will be fondly remembered by his extended family and many friends. The Mescia family immigrated to Canada in 1958 from Italy. Mike and Toni chose London, Ontario to begin a new chapter of their life, raising their family. Mike acquired a job at Tecumseh Products which he worked at throughout the years until he retired. He was a dedicated, hard worker and never missed a day of work. His wife and himself made sure to keep up the Italian tradition at home-made sauce making and wine making. They had numerous fruit trees in their backyard and especially his favourite, a cheery tree. As everyone knows, Mike was an avid gardener as well. His wife and himself raised two sons and he was lucky enough to have grandchildren and great-grandchildren added to the family. Mike was a respected member of the Italian community and loved watching soccer and grew a passion for the Toronto Maple Leafs. On a final note, Michele will always be remembered for the sacrifices he has made for the sake of his family. Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Tuesday, September 19th, 2017 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will held at St. Mary's Church, 345 Lyle Street, on Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock. Prayers Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers donations to Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario would be greatly appreciated.
