Kathleen Brunton

Obituary of Kathleen Celine Brunton

Brunton, Kathleen Celine (nee Costello)

Peacefully passed away at University Hospital on Sunday, June 18th, 2017 after suffering a stroke in December 2016. Kathleen was the beloved wife, for 57 years, of George, and dear mother of Celine (Bill) Irving, Joanne, Mary Catherine (Robert) Arkle, Gina (Gary) McIntosh and George III. She will be missed by her nine grandchildren. Kathleen was the daughter of the late Catherine Finn and William Costello.

She is survived by her sister Mildred (the late Larry Brown) and brother Gerry (Mickey) Costello, sister-in-law Jean Costello and a large extended family. She is predeceased by her brothers Michael (Madeline), Raymond (Ramona), John and her sisters Rita (Joe) Duffy and Elizabeth Costello.

Born in Goderich, Ontario, Kathleen moved to London at an early age where she lived the remainder of her life. She attended St. Peter's School and Sacred Heart Commercial, and was a proud graduate of Kings College UWO. In her early career Kathleen was a Bookkeeper for Scotts of London, and later utilized her lifelong passion for fashion in Sales there. Her strong commitment to community was evident in her participation in many organizations, including the Catholic Women's League. Kathleen excelled at many sports and brought her energy to the dance floor whenever she could. Kathleen's curiosity and sense of adventure fuelled her love to travel. She took every opportunity to celebrate all holidays and occasions. She was known for her wit and humour, which she would share with everyone she met. Kathleen was a talented natural musician; often spontaneously entertaining with her harmonica and piano playing. She took great pleasure in any gathering of family and friends. Kathleen was proud of her Irish heritage and lived her Catholic faith. Thank you to all the staff at University Hospital, Extendicare, Marian Villa and St. Mary's Longterm Care for their kindness and support.
