Obituary of Stephen Morgan

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;" It is with much sadness, the family of T. Stephen Morgan, P. Eng., of London, ON, share with you his peaceful passing, Wed. April 5, 2017, which occurred at St. Joseph's Hospice, London, ON. Steve leaves to mourn his wife of 48 years, Marilyn (Peggy) Morgan (Wilbur) and a large extended family. Steve was born in Montreal, Quebec. He was the younger son of the late Mildred and Cecil Thorold Morgan, and was a brother of Graham Morgan of Baie d'Urfe, Quebec. Steve graduated from University of New Brunswick (UNB), Fredericton, in 1966 with a BSc. in Mechanical Engineering and began his working career in Montreal. Steve's professional career later saw him working for 3M Company in London, from where he retired after 34 years. Steve had many interests, from creating fine woodwork, technology, working on his vehicles or building a dark-room to support his interest in photography. He was the unofficial photographer at all family events from reunions to cousin parties to weddings and family celebrations. He brought an engineer's expertise, skill and perfection to all his pursuits. Steve and Marilyn travelled extensively throughout the world. In addition to RV-ing, they spent summers enjoying Youghal Beach in Bathurst, NB. Steve was proud to receive his pilot's license and fly his own Cessna 172. He spent many hours of recreational flying throughout the province. He loved his freedom to fly and was always willing to welcome friends and family to share his enthusiasm, joy and love of flying. He wore his "wings" with great pride. Steve and Marilyn were members of the London Myeloma Support Group. Together they attended meetings, assisted in fund-raising events, and both received from and gave support to others, in sharing knowledge of this debilitating disease. Steve is pre-deceased by his mother- and father-in-law, Mildred and Harvey Wilbur, and his brother-in-law Clary Wilbur. In addition to his brother Graham, Steve is survived by his in-laws, Percy and Norma Wilbur, Saint John, NB; Mary Alma and Guy Smith, Windsor, NS; Dorothy and Dave Constable, Burlington, ON; Jayne Wilbur, of Hampton, NB. He was loved and respected by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Visitation will take place on Monday, April 10th at 9:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Church, 511 Cheapside Street, London, ON. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Murray Sample, celebrant. A reception will follow in the parish hall. In memory of Steve, donations to London Health Sciences Myeloma Research or to St. Joseph's Hospice, Windermere Road, London may be made if you wish. Marilyn and family would like to thank the many health professionals of LHSC for their excellent knowledge and support over the past nine years.
